Speaker: Taiwo Oyedele

Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PwC

Taiwo is the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PwC. He is the author of Insights on Taxation and Fiscal Policy; the Top 50 Tax Issues in Nigeria; and the Nigeria Transfer Pricing Chapter of the IBFD publication. He is a contributor to the annual doing business report of the World Bank and the Paying Taxes survey of PwC covering 190 economies worldwide.

 

He is the Thematic Lead for the Public Finance & Taxation Policy Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group; Chairman of the Taxation & Fiscal Policy Faculty Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; member of the Nigerian Taxation Standards Board; and a member of the Ministerial Committee on the implementation of Nigeria’s National Tax Policy.

 

Taiwo is an alumnus of the London School of Economics, Yale University and Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education. He is a guest lecturer at the Lagos Business School and the Founder and President of Impact Africa Foundation.

Speaker: Jane Egerton-Idehen

Head of Sales Middle East & Africa at Facebook

Jane Egerton-Idehen is the Head of Sales at Facebook for Middle East and Africa. Before that she was country manager in Nigeria and the Regional Sales Director for the West Africa for Avanti Communications Group PLC.

She has worked in the telecommunications industry in Nigeria, Ghana, and Liberia for more than 17 years. Prior to working for Facebook, she worked for Avanti, Nokia and Ericsson. Her knowledge of technology, her ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, and her skill to manage teams and create strategies to support growth and drive business are keys to her success.

 

In March 2020 published a book she wrote, Be Fearless: Give Yourself Permission To Be You. She drew from her more than 15 years of experience as a telecommunication executive in West Africa to help women build lasting careers, especially in the male-dominated STEM industries. The book hit seven Amazon best seller lists on March 17, 2020, climbing all the way to number one in the Business Ethics and Knowledge Capital categories. The book also took top ranking in several career and leadership categories as well as appearing on seven New Release list.

 

 

Speaker: Karen Mwendera

Curator Forbes 30 Under 30 List and Founder, Afrikaren Media

Karen Mwendera is an award-winning multimedia journalist. She is a university lecturer, a speaker, writer, anchor, moderator, and founder of Afrikaren Media. She curates the Forbes Africa 30 under 30 lists bringing together game changers from across the continent in business, sports, tech and creatives fields.

 

In her work as a journalist, she has interviewed the likes of Naomi Campbell, President of the AfDB Akinwumi Adesina, Naspers CEO Phuti Mahenyele, Danai Gurira, Femi Kuti, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Mr Eazi, President Cyril Ramaphosa, President Lazarus Chakwera, Deputy minister Emma Theofelus and more.

 

Karen has expertise covering stories on business, tech, health, women, agriculture, and development in Africa for local and international publications such as eNCA, Destiny Magazine, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, Wits Vuvuzela, Mapp Africa and more. Passionate about telling authentic African stories and contributing to a positive African narrative, her company, Afrikaren Media is helping Africa host critical and impactful conversations through digital events and webinars.

Speaker: Professor Ndubuisi Ekekwe

 Lead Faculty, Tekedia Institute

Prof Ndubuisi Ekekwe invented and patented a robotic system which the United States Government acquired assignee rights. Dr Ekekwe holds two doctoral and four master’s degrees including a PhD in engineering from Johns Hopkins University, USA. He earned an undergraduate degree from FUT Owerri where he graduated as his class best student. While in Analog Devices Corp, he co-designed an accelerometer for the iPhone. A recipient of IGI Global “Book of the Year” award, a TED Fellow, IBM Global Entrepreneur and World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Prof. Ekekwe has held professorships in Carnegie Mellon University and Babcock University, and served in the United States National Science Foundation Committee.

 

The South African press called him “a doctor of innovation” for helping organizations on the mechanics of business innovation, strategy, and growth. Since 2009, the Chairman of Fasmicro Group which controls many startups and entities has been writing in the Harvard Business Review. He was recognized by The Guardian as one of 60 Nigerians Making “Nigerian Live Matter” on Nigeria’s 60th Independence Day (Oct 1, 2020).

Speaker: Denise Chisholm

Sector Strategist, Fidelity Investments

Denise Chisholm is a sector strategist in the Asset Management division at Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals.

 

In this role, Ms. Chisholm is focused on sector strategy research, its application in diversified portfolio strategies, and ways to combine sector-based investment vehicles. In addition to her research responsibilities, Ms. Chisholm is a popular contributor at various Fidelity client forums, is a Linked-in 2020 Top Voice, and frequently appears in the media.

 

Prior to assuming her current responsibilities, Ms. Chisholm held multiple roles within Fidelity, including research analyst on the megacap research team, research analyst on the international team, and sector specialist.

 

Ms. Chisholm earned her bachelor of arts degree in economics from Boston University.

Speaker: Mita Mallick

Head of Inclusion, Equity and Impact at Carta. LinkedIn Top Voice (2020)

Mita Mallick is a corporate change-maker with a track record of transforming businesses, who gives innovative ideas a voice and serves customers and communities with purpose. 

 

She is currently the Head of Inclusion, Equity and Impact at Carta and formerly was the Head of Inclusion and Cross Cultural Marketing at Unilever.  She has had an extensive career as a marketer in the beauty and consumer product goods space.  

 

Mallick is a LinkedIn Top Voice, a contributor for Entrepreneur, and her writing has been published in Harvard Business Review, Fast Company and Business Insider.

Speaker: Olayinka Oyetunji, CFA, ACA, ACS

Manager, Strategy and Transactions, Ernst & Young

Olayinka Oyetunji is married and blessed with three kids. 

 

She is a charterholder of the CFA Institute, a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Stockbroker. 

 

She works with Ernst & Young as a Manager in Strategy and Transactions. She consults for both public and private sector clients. She has over 12 years’ experience in brokering mergers & acquisitions, valuations, financial modeling and due diligence as well as infrastructure and public sector advisory. 

 

She is the Convener of an initiative called C.L.E.A.N.witholayinka; a platform that uses storytelling to re-energize and inspire people. 

 

She is also a CFA lecturer at New Frontiers Learning Center and takes finance courses at other tuition centers. She is a volunteer at Gender Diversity of the CFA Society Nigeria. 

 

Speaker: Dr Adaeze Oreh

Country Head of Planning, Research and Statistics at National Blood Transfusion Service Nigeria 

Dr Adaeze Oreh is a Consultant Family Physician, Country Head of Planning, Research and Statistics for Nigeria’s National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) and Senior Health Policy Advisor with the Department of Hospital Services in Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Health.

 

Dr Oreh holds an MBBS degree from University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Master of Science (MSc) degrees in International Health Management from Imperial College and Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; in addition to Leadership, Management and Public Policy certifications from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, University of Oxford Saïd Business School, Harvard Chan School of Public Health, University of Bath, and the University of Washington.

 

A prolific writer on prevalent health and development issues in Africa, Dr Oreh has authored publications in international, national, and local media outlets. She is a recognised advocate for respectful, dignified quality healthcare that addresses health inequities, universal health coverage and quality medical education in her advocacy and communication and spoke on Universal Health Coverage at the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York. In 2019, Dr Adaeze Oreh was named one of 25 recipients of Aspen Institute’s New Voices Fellowship­­­—an initiative which recognizes changemakers in global health and development and is one of 15 accomplished Amujae Leaders announced by the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development in early 2021. On International Women’s Day, 2021 she was named one of the 100 Most Inspiring Women in Nigeria and listed amongst 100 Leading Women and the Top 100 Career Women in Nigeria.

Founder & Managing Director, Avandis Consulting

Dr Anino Emuwa is the Founder and Managing Director of Avandis Consulting, a strategy and financial advisory firm in France.  A former corporate banker with Citibank, she is an experienced Non-Executive Director and sits on the board of several organisations including Nottingham Trent University, U.K.

 

Anino is an advocate for gender diversity in leadership and is a member of the Institute of Directors’ Expert Advisory Group on Diversity and Inclusion. She convenes global and regional communities for women in leadership including 100 Women@Davos, and is recognised as one of  125 people to follow on LinkedIn about Diversity and Inclusion.
